Getting Hurt: What to Do Now

Connect with OWA

Rest up so you can get back to the mountains sooner.Everyone gets hurt. It happens. You train too hard without rest days. You go for a move that’s a little out of your range. You fall off a drop onto a pile of rocks. There are many reasons for getting hurt. They all suck the same though. Anytime you are forced to chill and not train it’s hard. However with all that down time usually devoted to training, think of all the things you can accomplish! Having problems thinking of a few? No worries we are here to help. We’ve made a list of 30 things you can do to occupy your time:

  1. Start making plans for your next adventure. It will inspire you to get healthy again.
  2. Clean your gear (let’s face it that bike could really use a deep clean)
  3. Make a bucket list
  4. Become fluent in a new language
  5. Find a cookbook and make every recipe in there
  6. Take up knitting
  7. Watch a whole series on Netflix
  8. Balance your checkbook
  9. Call your mom
  10. Start making your own Kombucha
  11. Tie Dye everything you own
  12. Adopt a pet from your local animal shelter
  13. Learn how to use chop sticks
  14. Meditate 3 hours a day
  15. Join a club
  16. Cruise Facebook and see what all your old high school buddies are up to
  17. Write a fan letter to Alex Honnold
  18. Mail your fan letter to Alex Honnold
  19. See how many grapes you can fit in your mouth
  20. Master the guitar
  21. Watch funny cat videos on YouTube
  22. Train your new pet to do tricks
  23. Draw a pretty picture
  24. Complete a whole puzzle
  25. Prank call your climbing buddies
  26. Talk to a stranger and learn about their life
  27. Visit a nursing home
  28. Bake some bread
  29. Catch up on your zzzzzz’s
  30. Come to understand that you will get better. And in the meantime, there are a lot of other things you can do to fill your time.

Train hard. Rest well. Heal soon.
